Bodrum, Turkey

Bodrum is an exquisitely beautiful resort in the southwest corner of  Turkey, which has become the haunt of the rich and famous. Its waterfront is domitaned by the magnificent The Castle of St. Peter , which houses a unique Museum of Underwater Archeology. There are regular ferries from Bodrum to the island of Kos in Greece. Years ago, one of Turkey’s most famous pop-rock groups, MFÖ released a song entitled, “Bodrum, Bodrum”; “How do I describe it, where do I begin, Bodrum, Bodruuuum,” was how it started. Avanos – The Wild West Town

Avanos reminds me of  the Wild West films that show deserted streets while playing an eerie whistling tune? You look up the street and then down the street. You complete a full 360 degree turn and the only thing to be spotted is a stray dog searching through the bins for scrap food. That is the perfect way to describe Avanos. It is a ghost town that seems to have been forgotten and left off the map. Since I was in the area, I went to have a look around Avanos but I especially wanted to see the red clay pottery that the town is famous for. Avanos is roughly a 15 minute drive from Goreme and...

Bozbuk Beach, Mugla

I have found my new haven and it is a beach in Bozbuk. This beach is going to be my place to get away from it all. My place to relax, unwind and calm down when daily life gets too much. Bozbuk beach is a place that has gone straight to my heart. The strange aspect is that the beach is just part of a small village which is not really attractive at all. Bozbuk as a village consists of a holiday complex and a dirty housing site as you drive into the area. There are small Turkish cottages dotted over the landscape that don’t really catch your eye. I ignored all of these buildings and concentrated...
